HRIS (Human Resources Information System)
What is HRIS (Human Resources Information System)?
An HRIS is the central software a company uses to store and manage employee data - records, leave, compensation, and roles - in one place instead of scattered spreadsheets.
Most small companies start with spreadsheets and a shared calendar. An HRIS replaces that with one source of truth: who works here, what they are paid, how much leave they have left, and who approved what.
For a 5-100 person company the useful core is employee records, leave management, an absence calendar, and an audit trail. Larger suites add recruiting, performance, and payroll, which smaller teams often do not need yet.
