HREvio vs Treegarden: an honest 2026 comparison for SMBs

We build HREvio, so read this knowing who wrote it. Treegarden and HREvio overlap on SMB HR, so here's an honest split of where each one leads.

The short version: Treegarden leads with recruiting (an AI-powered ATS) and adds HR as a module. HREvio leads with core HR and treats recruiting as a roadmap item. If hiring is your daily pain, Treegarden is built for that; if leave, records, and compensation are, HREvio is.

The pricing difference

Treegarden prices per module from $299/month (mid tier $499, top $899), billed on an annual commitment, after it removed its free tier in 2025-2026. Its ATS and HR modules are priced separately, so running both lands roughly in the $598-$1,798/month range depending on tier.

HREvio is flat and covers core HR in one price. EUR 29/month up to 25 employees, EUR 49 up to 100, EUR 99 up to 250 - roughly a tenth of Treegarden's per-module pricing.

The pricing reflects focus. Treegarden charges recruiting-platform prices because recruiting is the lead product. HREvio charges core-HR prices because that's what it is - and it doesn't split HR into separately-billed modules.

What Treegarden has that HREvio doesn't

What HREvio does, and does well

GDPR isn't a checkbox here. Hosting is on Hetzner in the EU, the data processing agreement is part of signup rather than a separate sales artifact, salary data is encrypted at rest, and the audit log masks encrypted fields automatically. We process EU employee data, so we built the product the way we'd want our own data handled.

Who should pick which

Pick Treegarden if hiring is your daily job and you want an AI-led ATS with HR bolted on, and the per-module price fits your budget.

Pick HREvio if you need core HR (people, leave, compensation, audit) done well at a flat price, and recruiting is occasional rather than your main workflow.
