HREvio vs Treegarden: an honest 2026 comparison for SMBs

We build HREvio, so read this knowing who wrote it. Treegarden and HREvio overlap on SMB HR, so here's an honest split of where each one leads.

The short version: Treegarden leads with recruiting (an AI-powered ATS) and adds HR as a module. HREvio leads with core HR and treats recruiting as a roadmap item. If hiring is your daily pain, Treegarden is built for that; if leave, records, and compensation are, HREvio is.

The pricing difference

Treegarden prices per module from $299/month (mid tier $499, top $899), billed on an annual commitment, after it removed its free tier in 2025-2026. Its ATS and HR modules are priced separately, so running both lands roughly in the $598-$1,798/month range depending on tier.

HREvio is flat and covers core HR in one price. EUR 29/month up to 25 employees, EUR 49 up to 100, EUR 99 up to 250 - roughly a tenth of Treegarden's per-module pricing.

Entry$299/monthEUR 29/month (up to 25)
Mid$499/monthEUR 49/month (up to 100)

Treegarden pricing from its public site as of June 2026 ($299/$499/$899 per module, annual commitment; ATS and HR priced separately). USD as published. HREvio prices exclude VAT; annual billing saves ~17%.

The pricing reflects focus. Treegarden charges recruiting-platform prices because recruiting is the lead product. HREvio charges core-HR prices because that's what it is - and it doesn't split HR into separately-billed modules.

What Treegarden has that HREvio doesn't

This list is real, so here it is without hedging.

  • A full applicant tracking system (ATS) with AI candidate scoring - its lead product (ours is roadmap)
  • Job-board integrations and candidate sourcing
  • AI-assisted recruiting tools
  • Performance features in its HR module (a lightweight version is on our roadmap)

If recruiting is your core workflow and you want an AI ATS with an HR module attached, Treegarden is built for that. This page will still be here if you mostly need core HR and the per-module pricing stops making sense.

What HREvio does, and does well

Core HR that a 5-100 person company actually uses every week:

  • Employee directory with profiles, manager hierarchy, and an activity log of every change
  • Vacation and sick leave: requests, approvals, balances, accrual, carryover, and a full per-employee ledger
  • A team absence calendar plus public holidays for 48 countries, imported automatically
  • Compensation history with effective dating; salary amounts encrypted at rest
  • Roles and permissions (25 granular permissions), audit trail across the system
  • Self-serve billing by card, upgrade or cancel in-app, no sales call at any point
  • Interface in English, Ukrainian, Polish, and German

GDPR isn't a checkbox here. Hosting is on Hetzner in the EU, the data processing agreement is part of signup rather than a separate sales artifact, salary data is encrypted at rest, and the audit log masks encrypted fields automatically. We process EU employee data, so we built the product the way we'd want our own data handled.

Who should pick which

Pick Treegarden if hiring is your daily job and you want an AI-led ATS with HR bolted on, and the per-module price fits your budget.

Pick HREvio if you need core HR (people, leave, compensation, audit) done well at a flat price, and recruiting is occasional rather than your main workflow.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Treegarden cost?
Treegarden prices per module from $299/month (mid $499, top $899) on an annual commitment, after removing its free tier in 2025-2026. ATS and HR are billed separately, so both together run roughly $598-$1,798/month depending on tier (as of June 2026).
Is HREvio a Treegarden alternative?
For core HR, yes, at roughly a tenth of the price and without per-module billing. For Treegarden's lead product - an AI applicant tracking system - no; HREvio's recruiting features are on the roadmap, not shipped.
Does Treegarden still have a free plan?
No. Treegarden removed its free tier in its 2025-2026 pricing change and now starts at $299/month per module. HREvio doesn't offer a free tier either, but it runs a 30-day full trial with no credit card.
What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
You can pay by card and continue, or your account goes read-only for a grace period before archiving. We email reminders before each step, and archived data is preserved well beyond that point, so nothing disappears the day the trial ends.
