What is Pro-rata holiday entitlement?

Pro-rata holiday is the share of annual leave a part-time employee or a mid-year joiner earns, calculated in proportion to the time or hours they work.

A new hire who starts in July does not get a full year of leave; a three-day-a-week employee does not get the full-time allowance. Pro-rata calculation keeps both fair.
