What is Leave accrual?

Leave accrual is the way paid time off builds up over the year, usually a set number of days or hours added each month rather than granted all at once.

Monthly accrual matches leave to time worked, which is fairer for mid-year joiners and leavers than granting a full year up front. The running total is the employee's leave balance.
