Parental leave
What is Parental leave?
Parental leave is time off granted to employees to care for a child - covering maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave depending on the country - with entitlement and pay set mostly by national law.
The umbrella holds several distinct rights. Maternity leave is for the person giving birth, paternity leave for the partner, and shared or general parental leave can be split between parents; each has its own length, notice, and pay rules that differ sharply across the EU and beyond.
For HR software the job is to track the absence and its dates cleanly, and to keep the role open, rather than to calculate statutory parental pay - that is country-specific payroll territory. HREvio records the leave and approvals; the pay calculation stays with your payroll provider.
