Data minimisation
What is Data minimisation?
Data minimisation is the GDPR principle that a company should collect and keep only the personal data it actually needs for a stated purpose, and no more.
In HR this means not hoarding fields just because a form has them. The less personal data a system holds, the smaller the risk if anything goes wrong, and the easier it is to handle access and erasure requests.
It lines up with keeping HR software focused: a tool that does core records, leave, and compensation holds less sensitive data than an all-in-one suite that also runs recruiting, performance, and payroll. Collecting less is a feature here, not a gap.
