Right to be forgotten (right to erasure)

What is Right to be forgotten (right to erasure)?

The right to be forgotten, or right to erasure, is a GDPR right that lets a person ask for their personal data to be deleted when there is no lawful reason to keep it.

In HR this is balanced against retention duties: payroll and tax records often must be kept for years, so erasure usually applies to data without a legal reason to retain it. A clean process distinguishes the two.
