HREvio vs Deel: an honest 2026 comparison for SMBs

We build HREvio, so read this knowing who wrote it. Deel and HREvio get compared a lot, but they solve different problems - we'll be clear about which is which.

The short version: Deel is built for hiring and paying people across borders (contractors, EOR, global payroll). HREvio is core HR for a team you already employ. If you mainly need to track leave, records, and compensation for staff you already have, Deel is a payroll platform you'd be using for the small HR slice.

The pricing difference

Deel's HR module (Core HR) is $5 per employee per month as of June 2026 - so $125 at 25 employees, $250 at 50, $500 at 100. The free HR tier Deel was once known for is no longer on its official pricing page (it may persist as a bundle for existing EOR or payroll customers). Deel's main products are priced separately: global payroll, contractor management, and EOR each carry their own per-person fees.

HREvio is flat. EUR 29/month up to 25 employees, EUR 49 up to 100, EUR 99 up to 250 - core HR, with no per-person HR fee.

Core HR monthly cost by team size
Team sizeDeel Core HR ($5/employee/mo)HREvio (flat)
25 employees$125/month*EUR 29/month (Starter)
50 employees$250/month*EUR 49/month (Standard)
100 employees$500/month*EUR 49/month (Standard)

*Deel Core HR at $5/employee/month (deel.com/pricing, as of June 2026); USD as published, approximate EUR at mid-2026 rates. Deel global payroll, contractor, and EOR products are priced separately. HREvio prices exclude VAT; annual billing saves ~17%.

If you hire contractors or employees across many countries and need to pay them compliantly, that's Deel's job and HREvio doesn't do it. If your people are already employed and you need core HR, you don't need a global payroll platform's HR module to do it.

What Deel has that HREvio doesn't

This list is real, so here it is without hedging.

  • Employer of Record (EOR) hiring in 100+ countries
  • Global and local payroll
  • Contractor management and contractor-of-record
  • Cross-border compliance and entity services
  • Equipment, immigration, and global-mobility services
  • A mobile app and a large integrations marketplace

If your problem is hiring and paying people across borders, Deel is built for exactly that and HREvio is not. This page is for the other case: you already employ your people and need core HR, not a payroll platform.

What HREvio does, and does well

Core HR that a 5-100 person company actually uses every week:

  • Employee directory with profiles, manager hierarchy, and an activity log of every change
  • Vacation and sick leave: requests, approvals, balances, accrual, carryover, and a full per-employee ledger
  • A team absence calendar plus public holidays for 48 countries, imported automatically
  • Compensation history with effective dating; salary amounts encrypted at rest
  • Roles and permissions (25 granular permissions), audit trail across the system
  • Self-serve billing by card, upgrade or cancel in-app, no sales call at any point
  • Interface in English, Ukrainian, Polish, and German

GDPR isn't a checkbox here. Hosting is on Hetzner in the EU, the data processing agreement is part of signup rather than a separate sales artifact, salary data is encrypted at rest, and the audit log masks encrypted fields automatically. We process EU employee data, so we built the product the way we'd want our own data handled.

Who should pick which

Pick Deel if you hire contractors or employees internationally and need EOR, global payroll, or contractor compliance. That's its core job and it's good at it.

Pick HREvio if you already employ your team and need core HR (people, leave, compensation, audit) at a flat price, without paying per person for an HR module bolted onto a payroll platform.

Using HREvio alongside or instead of Deel

Start a trial, bring your employee list, and set starting leave balances with the built-in onboarding workflow, so mid-year balances carry over correctly. Many teams keep Deel for cross-border payroll and use HREvio for day-to-day core HR.

The trial is 30 days, full Standard features, no credit card. After it ends your data goes read-only, and we send reminders before anything changes state. Nothing is deleted without warning and time to act.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Deel HR cost?
Deel's HR module (Core HR) is $5 per employee per month as of June 2026 - $125 at 25 employees, $250 at 50, $500 at 100. Deel's payroll, contractor, and EOR products are priced separately per person.
Does Deel still have a free HR plan?
Not on its official pricing page as of June 2026. The free HR tier Deel was once known for has been removed; it may continue as a bundle for existing EOR or global-payroll customers, but it is no longer offered as a standalone free HRIS.
Is HREvio a Deel alternative?
For core HR of a team you already employ, yes, at a flat price. For Deel's main job - EOR, global payroll, and contractor management across borders - no. HREvio doesn't do payroll or EOR by design; it's core HR for people you already employ.
What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
You can pay by card and continue, or your account goes read-only for a grace period before archiving. We email reminders before each step, and archived data is preserved well beyond that point, so nothing disappears the day the trial ends.
